mascara favorites + givenchy noir interdit

mascara favorites + givenchy noir interdit

Recently, I was kindly sent the new Givenchy Noir Interdit mascara to review, so I decided to go through my mascara collection and pick out my favorites to see how this new one stacked up against the best ones from my collection. Givenchy's Noir Interdit mascara has an innovative wand that helps add length to your lashes by bending to a right angle so you can get closer to the roots of your lashes. I have very short, stick-straight Asian eyelashes so great mascaras are a must in my makeup collection. I can't be bothered to wear false lashes all the time, so I look for mascaras that add length and volume while also holding a curl. It's usually a lot to ask for all three qualities, but I think all these mascaras do a great job on my lashes.

polka dots + stripes

polka dots + stripes

I'm not the biggest print-wearer, so I rarely wear two prints at a time. With these two pieces, I made an exception. Polka dots and stripes are pretty basic prints so it can be easy to pair them together. My top has small dainty polka dots, so it works really well with the thick stripes of the skirt. If you want to see more of my print-mixing outfit plus suggestions for more printed pieces you can mix and match, keep reading!

summer wedding guest dresses under $200

summer wedding guest dresses under $200

It's almost summer, which means it's wedding season! Going to weddings can be really fun and exciting, but they can also be really expensive. Between your gifts and your attendance at pre-wedding get-togethers, you've probably already spent a lot of money before picking out something to wear the day-of. You could obviously just wear something you already have, but when it's such a rare and special occasion like the wedding of a close friend, most of us want to look good for the photos. In this post I've picked out some gorgeous dresses that are perfect for summer weddings of all kinds (from casual outdoor weddings to black tie affairs) but shouldn't make you go broke. You also get a sneak peek at the dress I'm hopefully wearing to my friend's wedding next month!

birthday in portland

birthday in portland

Hi guys! It's taken me a while to get this post together, but I was a little too busy just basking in the memories of the trip and holding onto the feeling of it all to actually get off my butt and write a blog post. Basically, Gerome semi-surprised me with a trip to Portland for my 23rd birthday! I say semi-surprised because I'm a little shit who kind of spoiled the surprise by calling him to say good night two nights before my birthday and then asking him why he sounded so shady. He confessed that he was mildly freaking out trying to get a birthday trip together for me, which I thought was adorable. I was glad I called because he almost booked a hotel in Portland, Oregon instead of Portland, Maine, which was the Portland he intended on taking me to. It was really sweet of him and an honest and well-meaning mistake because Portland, OR has one of the boutique hotels from a hotel chain I really like. We ended up picking a hotel in Maine together and wrapped up planning the logistics of the trip at 4am the day we left for it. This post has just a few of our photos from the trip and my thoughts about the experience. I hope you enjoy reading this post!

met gala 2017

met gala 2017

Let me start off this post by saying that this year's Met Gala was not my favorite. I thought that the theme, Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between, had a lot of potential, but I think a lot of the guests had no idea what to do with that avant-garde dress code. However, I still appreciate the event and loved the chance to see what the best dressed people in fashion and entertainment would show up in on fashion's glitziest night. It would be really cool if one of my local art museums had as robust of a fashion department as the Met, and I would totally respect them if they needed to throw a big fundraiser gala every year to raise money for it. In this post I'm rounding up all my favorite looks from the Met Gala - let me know if you share any of my favorites!
