This past weekend was the first weekend of fall, and since temperatures finally dropped a little, I decided to wear a new faux fur vest I picked up recently! I went to LIT Boutique's warehouse sale a few weeks ago and got the cutest BCBGeneration faux fur vest to wear this fall. I used to dislike fur vests and was once gifted multiple fur vests one Christmas and ended up exchanging them all. Now, I've grown to love how cozy and luxe they feel and look! You can layer and style fur vests so many different ways but this is how I did it for a casual fall weekend with slightly chilly temperatures. I hope you like this post and I hope it inspires you to wear fur vests this fall too!
Gerome and I had a pretty chill Saturday. We tried to go to the Mary Eddy Baker Library to check out the Mapparium, but when we arrived they had already sold out of tours. Instead we wandered over to the Southwest Corridor Park's Butterfly Meadow. It was a really pretty park tucked away in a hidden corner of Boston's South End and it still had a lot of flowers in bloom even with the temperatures dropping. After we walked around and snapped some photos at the park, we drove to Wrentham Outlets to do some shopping. I didn't find anything I loved but Gerome found a birthday gift for his mom at Kate Spade. This outfit was perfect for our activities that day since it was cozy and comfortable, and the BCBGeneration fur vest really tied it all together with its luxe plushiness. I love how soft its faux fur is - some faux fur vests can have really itchy fur fibers but mine is just soft.
You can't see it in many of the photos, but I wore a lace up top under my vest. It was a plain black one in a light chiffon fabric - I still love lace up tops and thought it was a cute detail that peeked out from under the main piece of my outfit, the fur vest. I did end up regretting the high heeled booties about 5 hours into the day since shopping is serious cardio, but they are pretty comfortable so long as you don't spend the entire day walking like I did. I could have worn lower heeled tan-colored booties, but I liked the all black look with the vest as the accent color. The fur is an almost strawberry blonde color in some lights, so it really popped against my monochrome outfit.
Picking out a faux fur vest for yourself depends on what you want out of it. Some people like cropped, slinkier vests that fit closer to their body, but I wanted one that was larger and fluffier so that I could wrap it around my body and just feel super comfortable. The vest I have has a shawl collar for extra warmth around my neck, which also makes it look and feel more luxurious. This is definitely going to be a favorite layering piece this fall - I even ended up wearing it the next evening to a wine and cheese night! For some more faux fur vest options, here are a few of my favorites: the Cupcakes and Cashmere Rosette Faux Fur Vest, the BB Dakota Belding Faux Fur Vest, the Joie Pruce Reversible Faux Fur Vest, and this Bishop + Young Repeat Faux Fur Vest. So many cute options!
I think I've rambled on about my newfound love for faux fur vests enough. Let me know in the comments if you'll be rocking a fur vest this fall too! I'd love to know how you style and layer this super luxurious but versatile piece. I also wanted to let you all know that the non-profit campaign I work for, Together Empowering Asian Minds, has officially launched! If you're interested in mental health awareness and want to end the stigma against mental health in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community, please give us a follow on social media (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) and check out our new resource website for young AAPI women! This project is extremely near and dear to my heart since I know mental health affects me and everyone I know to some degree.
