The weather hasn't been looking that great or springy in Boston, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better in the next few days either. As much as I love playing in snow or snuggling indoors, I still think I would like to be able to wear my new spring clothes a bit more. However, we did have a few spring-like days a week or two ago so Gerome and I capitalized on that by heading to Castle Island and spending some time in the sun. If you're hopeful about being able to dress up for a springtime date soon, keep reading to see the outfit details from my casual spring date!
You've already had a sneak peek of this outfit if you read my Spring Break post, but that blurry hotel mirror selfie didn't really do this outfit justice. I first wore this outfit to see a musical but it was also perfect for going to lunch at the new by CHLOE in Seaport and then strolling around Castle Island catching Pokemon (but you can wear it to any other kind of casual spring date if you're not as nerdy as Gerome and I). I like how all the pieces in the look are a bit edgy individually but somehow come together for a softer feel. It was a really cute outfit for a breezy spring day.
The jacket is my new favorite jacket (I am definitely a jacket person - I get too cold and too warm easily so I like the versatility of throwing on a jacket over my dress or top) and it's from BLANKNYC. You've probably seen this jacket or similar pieces everywhere, but if you want the same color as mine, you have to get it at Bloomingdale's. It's made of real suede leather and it is so soft and comfortable to wear and move in. It's about $200 which is a really good deal for the quality of the fabric and how easy it is to pair the jacket with any kind of outfit. It feels heavy enough to keep you warm on windier spring days like the ones we have in Boston, but it's also light enough that it could be a suitable jacket to wear on summer nights out. I love all the buckles and detailing on the jacket.
My dress is by Bella Dahl for Bloomingdale's and it's on sale right now! I've linked a couple similar dresses below in case this one sells out but you still want it. There's a light snakeskin print on the dress and the contrast of the print on the dress almost makes the dress look like a dusty pink. Florals and other big, girly prints are very trendy this season, but if you want to try prints without looking like you raided your grandma's closet, this kind of print is an easy way to do it. The dress has a higher neckline and also tied up at the neck in the back so if you take your jacket off and have your hair done up, there's that cute little detail there. It's also a fully lined dress and the garment is weighty enough that you should be safe on windy days if you forget to wear shorts underneath.
The shoes I'm wearing are by Steve Madden (also on sale!) and are my favorites right now because they're so comfortable. Mules are so trendy now and cute in a quaint kind of way and this shoe is kind of a hybrid between booties and mules. Besides pairing them with a dress like in this outfit, I also like wearing them with jeans. They're perfect for sliding on and running out of the house and are bound to look great with any spring date outfit. My sunglasses are by Quay and are a must-have in your collection too if you like big, reflective sunglasses. They're rose gold and pink, which are two of my favorite colors, so they go with everything (but I wear them anyway even if they don't go with my outfit because I love them so much). Gerome lowkey hates reflective sunglasses though 😂
