top 10 favorite lipsticks

Hi guys! I've been doing a little spring cleaning so as I was sorting out my makeup collection, I decided to do a post about my top 10 favorite lipsticks! These are just my top 10 at the moment, so some lipsticks have been in my collection for over a year and some I've newly fallen in love with. I don't have any lip swatches because my lips have been looking a little rough (winter, please stop) but I do have arm swatches! I don't have a crazy big lipstick collection so these favorites are actually lipsticks I wear and play with quite often. I hope you enjoy this post! 💄

So this lippie is a favorite because I was super excited for the collection and because it's such an easy-to-wear color. I love Hello Kitty and jumped at the chance to have Hello Kitty makeup and of the two lip colors I got from the collection, I like this one the most. It's described as a "bright dusty rose" and has a creamy finish, so it's a color that works well with my skintone and also has an easy application. If I don't have the time to fuss with a mirror to put on my lipstick (aka I'm already on the train and need to put on my lipstick), this is the kind of lippie I'll wear - no matter what makeup look I'm wearing, this brightens up my lips and adds a bit of color into my face.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy | $17

This lipstick is fun to play with and mix with different liners and other lipsticks. The MAC matte formula is a classic color everyone can look good in and I definitely love it. It's described as a deep-tone beige and since it kind of wears as a pale pinky nude on me, I love wearing it with other lip colors to kind of make different colors that suit my lips. One of my favorite combinations is this lipstick plus an orangey-coral lip liner to create a coral lip that works for my skintone. It's also extremely wearable on its own and of course it's a cult favorite color from MAC.

Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Cathedral | $21

This Kat Von D color is slightly darker than their Lolita lipstick and I think it looks really good with my skintone. It's a perfect day-to-night lipstick and you can layer it on depending on how pigmented you want it to look on your lips. The Studded Kiss matte formula goes on smooth and creamy but stays comfortable while looking matte. I highly recommend this color if you're looking for a neutral deep rose that will go with any makeup look. This particular tube of lipstick is a sample size but it has lasted me many months - I'll definitely be wanting a full size!

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Love Bug | $6

This is one of my favorite red lip colors. It's described as a "rich mahogany" and I think it also looks like a dark burnt orange on me. In one of my next outfit posts, you'll see me wearing this lip color and it's so pretty and bold. If you like wearing bold matte lips during the day, you definitely need this, but it's also a great statement lip color if you usually wear more subdued colors. The formula is a little drying if you wear it for full days like I do, but I usually just fix that by applying some lip balm over top. It's such a pigmented color and it takes a lot for the color to transfer, so it will last on your lips all day even if you need to supplement it with a balm or a gloss over top.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Posie K | $29

I linked the full lip kit set since that's what I have and I also highly recommend using the lip liner with this lipstick, but you can get this lipstick individually for $17. This color described as a cool mid-tone berry and I think it's the perfect pinky-purple lipstick. I usually shy away from any lip colors that are too cool or too pink since they generally do not look good with my warm complexion, but I really like how this one looks. It was a hassle to get the lipstick since I got it in the early days of Kylie Cosmetics, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good the formula is. It's a very matte lip color (can you tell I love matte lipsticks?) and long-wearing but still comfortable.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella | $27

I feel like I always get a free sample of this lipstick from Sephora and it's exciting every time. I don't really wear true reds like this very often but I think everyone has days where they want to rock a bright and powerful red lip along with some killer eyeliner. I love how comfortable and easy it is to apply this lipstick and how the color fades evenly throughout the day - no patchy messes that make your lips difficult to look at. I'm really bad with remembering to re-apply lipsticks, so it's nice to know that even when wearing a bold lip like this, it'll look pretty all day long. If you want to have a red lipstick that's easy-wearing but looks amazing, this is the one for you.

MAC Matte Lipstick in Whirl | $17

This was probably the lipstick that started it all for me. I didn't used to like wearing lipsticks like this - I preferred easy things like tinted balms. Lipsticks seemed too intense and high-maintenance but when I discovered this color, I fell in love. Everyone says this, but it's definitely a my lips but better color. Some days I'll just tap it on to add more color to my lips (my lips naturally have a darker outline that more or less matches this color, while the inside part is paler) and other days I'll use a liner and be more precise. If you haven't already added this color to you collection, get it! It'll be perfect for any makeup look and it's the perfect nude for medium skintoned girls like me.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Beeper | $6

This is the liquid lipstick that started my mild Colourpop addiction. I love Colourpop lippies since they have such an accessible price point and they also have a great formula. Beeper is a cult favorite Colourpop lippie and I have to recommend it to anyone who wants to add a beige-y color to their lip collection. It's a great subdued nude color and somehow it works with brighter makeup looks as well as darker makeup looks. The matte formula of this color is perfectly comfortable and it also looks great layered with their glosses or metallic lippies.

Happy Skin x Disney Princess Moisturizing Lippie in Belle | $12

You can only really get this in the Philippines (potentially other parts of Asia), but I've loved this lippie ever since I got it for Christmas. It's perfect for those no-makeup days where you just want a bit more color to your lips and this is a great nude color for those days. It's a really comfortable and moisturizing lipstick and it is so easy to apply. If you're in a rush (as I always am) you'll find that this is easy to apply or re-apply on the go. I also love that it's Beauty and the Beast themed since it's my favorite Disney Princess movie (did you guys love the new live action movie? I did!). It's definitely the kind of pretty but practical color that a princess like Belle would wear.

Burberry Lip Velvet Lipstick in Dark Nude | $35

This is the newest addition to my lipstick collection and it has quickly become a favorite. You can see from this list that I love nudes and mauves, but I also know my lips look better in darker colors so I thought that a color called "Dark Nude" would be a perfect addition to my collection. This deep brown color has a reddish tint to it that makes it so pretty. It's an expensive lipstick for sure (I was in a treatyoself mood) but I've worn it so much since buying it that the cost per wear is very low. I like wearing it for day and night - the texture and formula is a very creamy and comfortable matte. You can layer it to make it even darker and more pigmented, or keep it light.

That's it for my top 10 favorite lipsticks of the moment! Let me know in the comments if you share any of my favorites and feel free to give me your top 10 too! Even though I'm trying to cut down my makeup buying right now (lol - this never works), I'd love to try out a lipstick if you think it's amazing enough! Thank you so much for reading this post - give it a like if you loved it!
