It's almost summer, which means it's wedding season! Going to weddings can be really fun and exciting, but they can also be really expensive. Between your gifts and your attendance at pre-wedding get-togethers, you've probably already spent a lot of money before picking out something to wear the day-of. You could obviously just wear something you already have, but when it's such a rare and special occasion like the wedding of a close friend, most of us want to look good for the photos. In this post I've picked out some gorgeous dresses that are perfect for summer weddings of all kinds (from casual outdoor weddings to black tie affairs) but shouldn't make you go broke. You also get a sneak peek at the dress I'm hopefully wearing to my friend's wedding next month!
This could be you, hanging out at your friend's Pinterest-worthy outdoor wedding in a cute and affordable dress! This is me hanging out at the Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate in Canton, Massachusetts, which is a gorgeous historical home now owned and operated by The Trustees and it's also a beautiful summer wedding venue.
My reaction when I hear about a friend (or random influencers lol) getting engaged. As scary as it is to hear about people around my age doing major adulting things like getting married, buying houses, or having kids, it's still heartwarming to know that people have found their (hopefully) forever person and are living their best lives.
The sleeves were what made me fall in love with this Club Monaco Eboviah dress. I'm obsessed with girly details so the ribbons below the sleeve cutouts are perfect. It was still $250 when I first fell in love with it, but right now it's on sale for $150!
This gorgeous lilac dress is church-friendly, lolas' & titas' judgement-friendly, and dance-friendly. The bared shoulders and bell sleeves are trendy, but overall, it's a modest and versatile dress that can also work for all sorts of spring and summer occasions. You'll probably see me in this dress a lot this summer - I love it so much!
The best part about a wedding is all the free food (and if there's an open bar, all the free drinks too). The simple silhouette of this dress makes it nice and roomy at your midsection, letting you eat all the hors d'oeuvres you want without getting uncomfortable. I got this dress in a 00 and decided against getting it tailored since it hits above my knees and I'm going to wear it with heels. The sleeves are snug but you can also loosen the ribbon if you need to.
If there's a dress code on the invitation, make sure you pick a dress that corresponds to it. You don't want to ruin someone's special day by bumming it in the background of their photos. Shop my dress and all my affordable dress recommendations below!
