Even though I still feel like an overgrown child, I turned 22 a few weeks ago! My birthday outfit post is coming soon (I was enjoying myself too much to pause for any outfit photos), but keep reading for a recap of what I did for my birthday :)
Gerome picked me up from work on my birthday with a surprise bouquet of peonies. Peonies are my favorite flower and I was so happy that they were finally in season - just in time for my birthday! They were so pretty when they bloomed and I love getting flowers since they brighten up my bedroom.
I love macarons and Gerome loves taking me new places to get macarons. He took me to the cutest little macaron shop in South Boston called Miam Miam Macaronerie, where he got me their Birthday Fun Fête Mac Pack, which had a dozen macarons (including amazing birthday cake flavored macarons!), a birthday candle, and an adorable card. The Miam Miam macarons were so delicious and I definitely want to go back for more soon!
For dinner, we went to go our favorite date spot, Giacamo’s Ristorante in the North End. There’s always a long wait to get into the restaurant since they don’t take reservations, but Gerome timed it so that we were in the first batch of people to get into their dinner service at around 4:30. I got the lobster ravioli and he got the fusilli with Giacomo sauce. We also had fried calamari and a bottle of wine. The food was as amazing as always - so worth it even if you have to wait hours. After dinner, we grabbed a cannoli from Mike’s Pastry for dessert, something we always do even when we’re too full.
To finish off the night, we grabbed some drinks at some cocktail bars we’ve been wanting to try. The first place was Cafe ArtScience in Cambridge. It’s a science themed and very classy restaurant and bar in a beautifully designed space with a lengthy drink menu. The next place was STRIP by Strega in Back Bay. The decor has always intrigued me whenever I walk by the place so I thought my birthday would be a good time to try it. I’m definitely a fan of going to nice and intimate cocktail bars rather than going clubbing for my birthday (and in general) - it’s much more memorable and a lot less messy.
It was a very lovely birthday and Gerome was such a sweetheart for planning such a nice night for me. I also did some other things other days like go out with my friends and Gerome also took me to the circus (I am literally a child - I loved every second of it), but this was just about what I did the day of my birthday. Where do you like going for special date nights like birthdays? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading this post - come back soon!
