These days, everyone who wants a Kylie Lip Kit has probably tried to get one and either succeeded or missed getting one by a few seconds. I was never successful getting one on my own but recently I finally got a lip kit in Posie K thanks to Gerome! No matter how often Kylie Cosmetics restocks the lip kits, they always sell out in 15 minutes or less. If you’re still on the fence about getting a lip kit, hopefully my review helps you click faster the next time she restocks or just helps you decide to stop wasting your time trying to buy one :P
Gerome ordered the lip kit for me on a Saturday and got the order confirmation email right away. The shipping confirmation email came a few days later on Wednesday, saying it would take 3-5 business days to ship. I was surprised when it arrived 2 days later on Friday. It seems that Kylie Cosmetics has now ironed out the kinks in their order processing and shipping because I was very apprehensive that it would be a long ordeal but it arrived pretty quickly. The actual process of buying it was still a struggle because Gerome tried to order a few other colors and they all sold out as he put them in his shopping cart but he was finally able to snag Posie K. I’m hoping that as Kylie Jenner expands her cosmetics line, she’ll have a larger production facility that can handle making enough product for constant orders rather than these super limited batches.
I love the aesthetic of the packaging. The drip pattern is consistent on the shipping box, the lip kit box, and the liquid lipstick - a detail that I really like. I also liked the metallic writing on the lip liner. The fact that the color of the lip kit is the color of the box is a nice touch. I still don’t know how I feel about the lip liner and matching liquid lipstick being sold together. If they were separate, it would be nice to pick and choose the colors you want of each item - but at the same time, shipping is so expensive on Kylie Cosmetics that it’s good that you at least get two items if you get a lip kit (not the new glosses). Since I didn’t have a lip liner or a liquid lipstick like Posie K, I was happy getting this color.
The first thing I noticed when I uncapped the liquid lipstick for the first time was the smell - it is really strong and sugary. Not very pleasant like the vanilla scent of MAC’s lipsticks - more llike if someone threw a cupcake at your face and the frosting went up your nose. I eventually got used to it as I wore it more and the scent faded but every time I open the lipstick the smell still hits me hard. It’s not bad enough to make me stop using it but I question who wanted it to smell this strong. I like the doe foot applicator that Posie K has - it’s not the same as the new Kourt K applicator but it’s still a nice size doe foot that makes it easy to apply on your lips. The flat side is for laying color all over the lip and then the pointy tip is good for evening out the edges. The lip liner is also great and has a nice creamy and pigmented formula, which makes it a solid base for the liquid lipstick. I was able to sharpen it easily with a normal makeup pencil sharpener.
The color and pigmentation of the liquid lipstick is actually really amazing. I only have Colourpop liquid lipsticks besides this one and despite the comparisons between the two, I think this has a much better staying power than Colourpop’s ultra matte lippies. The pink color is perfect for spring even on my medium skintone with a yellow undertone, which I used to think looked horrible with pink. I don’t own any real dupes for Posie K but the closest I have in formula and color would be Colourpop Lumiere 2 Ultra Matte Lip (has more of a purple undertone) and MAC Soar Lip Pencil (has more of a brown undertone). When I wear the liquid lipstick, it rarely transfers onto anything whether I’m eating, drinking, or kissing my boyfriend - something which is pretty amazing. It’s the perfect formula of great staying power plus bright, long lasting pigmentation.
Posie K sits pretty comfortably on the lips. You only need a small amount on the applicator to get an even amount all over your lips - no need to dunk it back in the tube. It doesn’t leave a line on my lips like other liquid lipsticks sometimes do. It isn’t drying so you can move your lips incredibly easily without feeling it cracking on your lips. As I stated before, the lasting power is ridiculous but that means it’s really difficult to remove. Even after using a liquid makeup remover and a makeup wipe, it still leaves a stain on your lips so you may have to exfoliate to get it completely off. Overall, I was very happy with the product. The only thing that I don’t like about it is how much she charges for shipping as well as the scent of the product. Otherwise, the actual lip liner and liquid lipstick were well worth the wait. I even loved the super pink color of Posie K. If you want to try for a lip kit or one of the new glosses, I’d recommend going for it!
Thanks again to Gerome for snagging me Posie K! Comment below with any questions about Posie K or if you have any thoughts about Kylie Cosmetics, especially if you decided to grab one of her new glosses - I’d love to know if they’re as great as her matte products. Thanks for reading - come back soon!
