turtleneck sweaters + pleated skirts
Hi everyone, I hope you're having an amazing start to the week! I'm back with a little outfit and autumn appreciation post here. Last week I was out shopping for some Halloween crafting supplies (hit up the dollar store for the first time in forever and was amazed at how many things one can purchase for just a dollar) and found a pretty mural in Allston so I decided to take some outfit photos in front of it. I love turtlenecks (which is a recent development since up until last fall I did not like them much at all) and pleated skirts so I thought I'd show it off to you guys as one of my favorite outfit combos for this season. Since all of the items I'm wearing have been in my wardrobe for a while now, I also linked some of my favorite turtlenecks, skirts, and other fall wardrobe pieces that you can buy now throughout this post!
It was a nice fall day when we went Halloween craft supply hunting in Allston, with the temperature probably being in the 50s to 60s. Fall can always be difficult to dress for because the mornings and nights are freezing cold but then midday temperatures can make you want to shed all your layers. I'm allergic to the cold (seriously, this is a real thing, google "cold urticaria") so I always have to make sure most of me is covered and warm when temperatures start dropping but I also tend to overheat quite quickly. I usually solve this problem by wearing thicker layers on top and less on the bottom, since you can stay quite warm and cozy so long as your core is covered. My favorite way to do this is with a nice thick sweater plus a skirt and knee-highs combo. I haven't gotten my dream over-the-knee boots yet so recently I've been gravitating towards knee high socks and oxfords.
The cropped turtleneck sweater I'm wearing is actually from the kids section of Primark because the way it's cropped was just perfect for my very petite frame. I still get kids' pieces every now and then because I'm 4'9" and there's no denying that I still have the stature of a teenager (but I am 22 now, for anyone wondering). The skirt is from Aqua at Bloomingdale's, which is one of my favorite brands. They make a lot of pretty pieces without as premium of a price as other things at Bloomingdale's, so it's a nice brand to shop through if you want trendy pieces without going broke. I really love how pleated skirts move and flow but it's best if you get one in a thicker material since it is fall which means a lot of cold and windy days - you definitely don't want your skirt flying up. I thought this cable knit turtleneck sweater and pleated skirt looked totally adorable together and will definitely be something I repeat as fall goes on - I will probably also wear it into winter with a coat on top for more warmth.
Just wanted to highlight my lip color since I've been obsessed with the metallic lip trend for a few months now. I'm wearing the ColourPop Ultra Glossy Lip in Cheat Code on top of the ColourPop Lippie Pencil in Taurus, which gives you the perfect metallic copper lip for fall. I'll probably be doing a mini ColourPop collection post sometime soon since I just got a few of their fall collection lippies in the mail and I'll definitely be trying to get my hands on their Hello Kitty collaboration. Speaking of Hello Kitty, what are you guys going to be for Halloween and what are you doing for Halloween? I have no idea what I'm going to be or what I'm doing on Halloween (mainly because Gerome does not like Halloween or scary things or holidays in general) so I still need ideas.
Below I've listed some of my favorite turtleneck sweaters and pleated skirts that you can currently purchase. While I'm partial to cable knit turtleneck sweaters and accordion pleated skirts, I included a variety of different knits and pleats plus some fall footwear ideas to go with the outfit combos. I hope you like all these cozy fall outfit ideas!
