sephora vib sale recommendations
Hi everyone, hope you had a good Monday! This week is exciting if you're part of the Sephora VIB program because it's time for the VIB sale! I'm a Sephora VIB so my sale is from the 11th to the 14th of November, and VIB Rouge already had their sale this past weekend. If you're a VIB or Beauty Insider (your sale is coming later this year) and are getting super excited about saving on beauty products since they never go on sale, this post is for you. It can be very overwhelming to walk into Sephora and see row after row of pretty products so I've rounded up some of my favorite products that I've purchased at Sephora plus some things I think are definitely worth trying out with the 20% off discount from this sale. I went browsing at Sephora yesterday to see all the holiday displays so this post will have some of my favorite new gift sets as well. Enjoy this post and have fun saving at Sephora!
Here is a photo of me checking out the Kate Somerville display at Sephora. Gerome said he would take photos of me shopping in Sephora since we supposed to take outfit photos that day (but then it started raining and we couldn't), but I didn't think he would actually be able to take photos of me since it was so packed in Sephora! He's very dedicated to this blog though, so thank you so much for the photos in this post Gerome! My trench is from H&M and my boots are from Target. I sometimes tie my trench's belt into a bow at my back to cinch my waist or just to keep it from hanging loose at my side and catching at things when I walk by them - cute and practical.
Recommending this Kate Somerville toner because I'll be picking this up during the sale. It has phytic acid to exfoliate and diminish the appearance of acne scars and also natural aloe to soothe and calm your skin. I've been breaking out recently (I've nicknamed the two pimples on my face Donald and Trump since they're gross, annoying, painful, ugly, and I need to be rid of them) so I've been looking for a new toner to help my skin out.
This Shiseido toner is what I used in the summer and a little bit into fall when my skin was still doing well since it's a very light toner that just helps prime your skin for moisturizer and makeup. It's not going to clear up acne or anything spectacular but it makes your skin feel really fresh and clean. I really liked how the pump squirted out just the right amount of product onto my cotton pads and it was overall just a really nice toner to use twice daily.
Here I am comparing two Murad value sets which I've linked below. They're really great starter kits if you need serious help managing acne and want to try a brand known for their acne products. Probably not something to gift, but definitely try it for yourself! (Random outfit details: My blue gingham top is an off-the-shoulder piece from Zara, my black ankle skinny jeans are from 7 for all Mankind, and here is a similar bag from Kate Spade.)
The Murad complete acne control set comes in a 30-day kit for $36 and a 60-day kit for $65, depending on how much time you want to dedicate to trying out this skincare regimen. They're both really great deals (valued at $62 and $115 respectively) so it will be an even greater bargain with the 20% off from Sephora's VIB sale.
I saw these Josie Maran masks displayed and thought they were the cutest little colorful tubs (I'm a sucker for packaging). You get whipped mud masks in Lavender Citrus, Sweet Citrus, Vanilla Apricot, Sweet Basil Mint, and Cucumber Aloe. I love trying out sample sizes of masks since you get to see what formulations and flavors your skin reacts to the best and then you can commit to a single mask later on. $48 for 5 deluxe size masks is amazing!
This rose face mask is the mask I'm doing as I write this post. It's super refreshing and feels so luxurious on your skin. If you want a simple hydrating mask that doesn't feel too restricting on your face like some heavy-duty masks can feel, this is the one to try. It's so soothing and calming to skin, especially if you have any dryness or redness.
This is one of those masks that everyone wants to try but $69 is not a price everyone wants to pay for one mask. With 20% off, it's a good time to actually try this mask or any other GLAMGLOW mud mask. I've tried this mask a couple times in the past few months and it's so intensely good. The mud formulation really clings onto the dirt and impurities just under your skin and you get that satisfying feeling of the mask removing it all from your face.
I was drawn to this Boscia moisturizer because of its cute name (who doesn't love a fun sake bomb lol) and was intrigued that sake was an ingredient used in a moisturizer. Alcohol is usually a no-no ingredient in skincare products but the sake extract in this moisturizer has properties which help hydrate and brighten your face.
I've heard about Drunk Elephant before but it was Gerome that found the Drunk Elephant display for me at Sephora. They have a lot of really interesting products that address a variety of skincare concerns, and one of their most popular products is the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream. It's an Allure Best of Beauty award winner and can intensely hydrate and brighten your skin - definitely a product I want to try soon.
I saw this festive gift set on a K-beauty display in Sephora and knew I had to have it. You can never go wrong with K-beauty and this Belif gift set gives you a full size of The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb as well as deluxe sized samples of their Hungarian Water Essence and their Moisturizing & Firming eye cream. Belif skincare is super hydrating and a set like this is a good way to dip your toe into a few steps of a K-beauty regimen.
Here I am swatching stuff on my hand in front of the Tarte display. Up above I listed a bunch of my skincare recommendations so now onto even funner recommendations - makeup! Also a reminder that you can partake in the Sephora VIB sale online as well, especially since the stores are sure to be packed this weekend. You just need to use the code 20VIB when checking out online to get the 20% discount. This sale is so worth spending the $350 yearly to be a VIB (which sounds like a lot but makeup is expensive - Gerome and I just watched a video that said the average woman spends $15,000 on makeup in her lifetime) so be sure to check it out in store or online!
Tarte Radiance Ritual Travel Set
Saw this set online and had to add it to my recommendations. It's a cute little mix of skincare and makeup with a bunch of Tarte Rainforest of the Sea products that all help to add more glow to your skin. Tarte's maracuja oil is so luxurious in a skincare routine and Tarte's Amazonian clay highlighter really adds to your skin's radiance.
This is a really cool set of palettes from the Estee Edit that I'm hoping to try out. It's combination of Gritty, the eyeshadow palette as well as Glow, the highlighter palette for face and eyes. They stick to each other magnetically so it's perfect for traveling with and it gives you have some really great shimmer shades to work with.
This gift set is so freaking adorable and smells good too. The three palettes smell like a Christmas cafe (peppermint mocha, gingerbread coffee, eggnon latte) and include two blushes, a bronzer, and 18 pretty eyeshadows. It also includes Better than Sex Mascara, which is one of my all-time favorite mascara formulations. This will definitely add a festive touch to your vanity while also giving you some solid new makeup products to play with.
I've been wanting one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting edits forever but their $80 price tag is pretty steep for a palette. The VIB sale discount makes it a little more palatable and this palette in particular is definitely something you want to check out during the sale. The marble packaging is absolutely gorgeous and the powder, highlighter, bronzers, and blushes themselves are stunning. This is definitely going in my shopping cart - how about yours?
This is the contour palette I've been using for the past year and I love it. Too Faced even came out with a new palette in the same line for those with deeper skin tones that I might try but I highly recommend the Cocoa Contour palette no matter what skin tone you are. The contour shades are so blendable and the highlighter shades are not bad (people hate on pop of light for being too glittery but I really don't mind it). Plus, this smells like chocolate!
Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics
I recently got and reviewed the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette and since then, I still love it and use it every day. If you only buy one thing during the Sephora VIB sale, I highly recommend this palette. The range of shades will cover you for any basic daytime and nighttime looks and will provide a nice base to any shimmers or other pigments you may have. The packaging is gorgeous and the mirror is perfect for doing your makeup in.
I love Sephora's Favorites collection since it allows you to try out a lot of different samples of one type of product (plus a couple of full sized products as a bonus) so you can figure out what works best for you. I think that Lashstash is one of the best ways to get mascara because mascara dries out so quickly anyway because of its short shelf life so you might as well have a lot more mascara waiting on deck. I can attest to how great the Tarte, Too Faced, and Benefit mascaras are and I'm very excited by the full sized Estee Edit and YSL mascaras.
I've been eyeing this Benefit brow kit for a while now since it includes all the tools for shaping the perfect brow. You get an eyebrow pencil to fill in your brows, a nude pencil to highlight your brow bone, a gel to hold your brows in shape, and even a shaping stencil + holder if you want to change up the shape of your eyebrows.
Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set
If you're a liquid lipstick aficionado like me, you're going to need this Kat Von D liquid lipstick set in your life. It comes with eight minis of one of the best liquid lipstick formulas that I've tried in a really stunning range of colors. For only $49 (plus your 20% off discount), this is an amazing way to add Kat Von D lippies to your collection!
You've probably heard of the Bite Beauty Multistick and its amazing formula so now is the time to stock up on a few of the amazing shades they have. If you don't know what it is, it's an amazing multi-purpose product which you can use as a lipstick but also use on your cheeks and eyes because it can blend out to a powdery finish. I think I want to try a brown shade to use as a lipstick and a contour plus a mauvey shade for blush and shadow.
When I saw these Huda Beauty lashes in store, I fell in love. I love how dramatic and full they are - definitely not for everyday but perfect for when you want to look especially glamorous. If you're looking to expand your lash collection like I am, I would definitely recommend checking out the Huda Beauty lashes during the VIB sale.
Sephora Collection Gnome for the Holidays Airbrush Sponge Set, Sephora Collection Studley Sponge and Travel Case Set, Sephora Collection Leave a Little Sparkle Wherever You Go Clutch, and Sephora Collection Sparkle & Shine Skinny Brush Set
Couldn't leave Sephora without checking out their display of limited edition holiday-themed tools. These are just a few of their super cute holiday items. I love Sephora sponges and think the gnome-themed packaging of this set is adorable. The sponge case is perfect because fur ball monsters will always hold a special place in my heart and it also solves my constant issue of "where do I store my makeup sponge?". The sparkly makeup clutch is adorable and I loved this one's festive messaging. I got one of Sephora's holiday makeup brush sets last year and love it to this day, so I highly recommend this set if you need new brushes and want them sparkly for the holiday season.
That's it for my Sephora VIB sale recommendations! What will you be picking up at this year's sale? I'm still trying to figure out what I want to get out of this list (plus some others that I haven't even included) so I'd love to read what you will be buying down below in the comments. Let me know if you'll be picking up anything on this list! I want to end this post with a reminder to VOTE because November 8, 2016 can either go down as the day the US elects a horrifyingly racist, xenophobic, sexist, and homophobic bully as President or an amazingly qualified Secretary of State as the first woman President of the United States. Vote wisely and happy shopping, friends!
