exuviance purifying cleansing gel review
For the past few months I’ve been testing out a couple of new skincare products since my skin has been going through some rough times. While I usually have pretty good skin, the transitions from summer to fall to winter can be unkind to my skin. As I’ve gotten older (22 is super old, okay), it’s also become way more important to me to maintain a good skincare routine. I was kindly sent a cleanser from Exuviance called the Purifying Cleansing Gel. I’ve been trying out the cleanser for about two months now so here’s my review of how it’s worked for me so far!
I received the cleanser in early October and have used it pretty much daily ever since, along with my Philosophy Purity Made Simple cleanser. I use one of my cleansers in the morning and the other at night but I change up the time of day between the two just depending on which bottle I grab first. I was intrigued by the Exuviance cleanser because it is formulated with Glycolic Acid (AHA) and Gluconolactone (PHA), which help to exfoliate and clarify skin. I’ve been dealing with clogged pores and texture issues on my face recently so it was great knowing that this was made to improve the texture on my face without drying my skin out. The cleanser is made for all skin types as well as sensitive skin, which makes it accessible to anyone who wants to try it. I personally have combination skin that is closer to oily in the hotter months and dry in the colder months.
The gel formulation makes this an easy cleanser to foam up and wash away makeup and impurities on your face. When I use it, I usually pump a quarter-size amount into my hand and rub my palms together a little to let it foam between my hands. I then apply it to my damp face and massage it into my skin in a circular motion to let the cleanser sink in. It’s pretty good for removing face makeup, but I highly recommend removing eye and lip makeup first (or having a makeup removing wipe handy to remove tougher makeup after cleansing). It feels really nice on the skin - it has a cooling and soothing feeling as you cleanse and your face feels really fresh after washing the cleanser off with warm water. I then gently pat my face dry with a clean face cloth so as to not irritate my freshly cleansed skin.
After using the cleanser for a while, in addition to a couple new products, I have noticed that my skin feels a lot better and healthier. I still have some texture issues but the dry patches and clogged and oily feeling in my t-zone have gotten better. I don’t have as many little bumps on my face, so I think that this cleanser has definitely helped to unclog my pores and help the texture of my face begin to heal. After more use and with the help of the other products I’ve been trying I am hopeful that my face will go back to its soft and smooth texture. Even if the effects of this cleanser haven’t been as immediate as I would like, I still enjoy the clean and fresh feeling that it gives my face. It definitely feels like I’ve given my face a powerful cleanse every time I wash it with this product without the gel being too harsh on my skin. I would recommend this product for anyone who wants to gently heal impurities on their skin and also values a soothing cleansing experience. It costs $34 so if you like to invest in your skincare products, this is a cleanser I recommend you try.
