5 eyeliners to try now that kat von d beauty is cancelled
Hey guys! Ever since news broke that Kat Von D is an anti-vaxxer, I've been devastated. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is one of my favorite eyeliners and I also love her brand's lipsticks - but I can't support the business of someone who will selfishly and stupidly endanger the life of her own children as well as all the other people around them. This post includes eyeliners that aren't necessarily dupes, but other eyeliners I've loved over the years that I'll be going back to once my Tattoo Liner dries up. I won't be tossing my Tattoo Liner or other KVD products since that would be wasteful and needlessly harmful to the environment, but I won't be repurchasing unless she has a big change of heart and decides to vaccinate her children. When I was a small child, I suffered a disease that was and is preventable by a vaccine (I still don't know what the reason for this was, but I was born in the Philippines, where medicine isn't as advanced as it is in the US). I am thankful for all the other vaccinations that I did receive, which meant I stayed healthy and didn't endanger anyone else. I am very disappointed in Kat Von D's decision to use her platform to spread dangerous pseudoscience and highly encourage anyone who is even thinking about being an anti-vaxxer to do the appropriate science-backed research. Anyways, enjoy this post - I hope it helps you find some replacements for your Kat Von D Tattoo Liner!
I have to confess - this was my HG eyeliner before trying out Tattoo Liner and I don't know why I ever abandoned it. It's the closest dupe I have for Tattoo Liner and has all the staying power, precision, and extremely dark pigment that you need for the perfect all-day cat eye.
If you're looking for a less expensive drugstore replacement, this is definitely one of my favorites. The felt tip pen is easy to maneuver and delivers a lot of pigment for any kind of eyeliner look that you want.
If you like higher end makeup and also like a chunkier, more graphic eyeliner, this one is for you. I like how the pen tip is thick but also tapers off to a sharp point, so you can do a lot of interesting things with this liner. It's a bit pricier, but definitely worth it if you live for liquid eyeliner.
For my Asian beauty lovers — I've always been partial to Dolly Wink products, which I first discovered on a trip to Hong Kong. I love their mascara but I've also purchased this eyeliner and enjoyed its deep pigment and sharp tip.
If you're looking for a pencil eyeliner instead of a liquid eyeliner, I really like this Urban Decay option. You can sharpen it to a point if you like sharp wing tips or you can draw on a line and smudge it for smokey eye looks.
Happy eyelining! Just as a disclaimer — this isn't a guarantee that these brands aren't problematic in their own ways. The danger with being obsessed with makeup, or anything really, is that something you love and feel passionate about could turn toxic at any second. BUT, I still think it's important to 'vote with your dollars' when you can. Knowing that Kat Von D is an anti-vaxxer and is selfish enough to endanger people with her misguided beliefs is so frustrating, especially knowing that she as a tattoo artist is fully vaccinated herself. I hope she does end up changing her mind, or at least keeps her children far far far away from any immunocompromised kids. I'm the last person to judge a woman for how they choose to live or raise their children - but refusing to vaccinate your child for non-medical reasons is imbecilic. Even if you don't replace your Tattoo Liner after reading this post, here's the one thing you do need to do — vaccinate your children!
