Banana Republic Sale Haul + New H&M Platform Boots
The past few days I’ve done more shopping than someone whose rent is also due should have done. Thankfully Banana Republic was having a sale on their sale and that is where I did most of my shopping. Gerome and I went to three different Banana Republics the past few days and all of them had 60% off sale items. I overheard a sales associate attributing the drastic sale to Marissa Webb’s departure as the creative director (she’s now a creative adviser to the brand) and the brand shifting their style and vision once again. Keep reading to see all of our Banana Republic finds (plus my new H&M platform ankle boots)!
Excuse me for looking like I’m asleep - minimal makeup and looking down is not a good look for me but my eyes open isn’t a good look right now either since I’m sick and it’s making my face all puffy and bleh. You might be looking at the prices of the Banana Republic items in my outfit and thinking okay it is not that great of a sale Yna, calm down. However, both things were more discounted in store, and with the extra 60% off, I ended up getting the jacket for $20 and the turtleneck for less than $10. Bottom line: go check out their sale in store asap!
Gerome got this half-classy half-badass coated tweed jacket for me at the second Banana Republic we went to. He was probably feeling generous because of the elation he felt from finding the Extra-Fine Merino Wool Vee Sweater Pullover in three colors (black, dark charcoal heather, and navy) in his size for only $10 each. The first Banana Republic we went to didn’t have the men’s sale on any extra discount even though everywhere else had the extra 60% off both sections. I’m in love with the jacket, which I got in a petites 00 so it’s cropped perfectly. My only complaint is that the arms are too tight - I won’t really be able to layer under it but it’s perfect for pairing with sleeveless tops.
I used to think turtlenecks looked atrocious on me because they drown my already too-short neck but I now view them as chic and perfect for hiding my face in when it’s cold. I’ve gone many days this winter feeling miserable because I left my scarf at my place but massive turtlenecks like this save me from the bitter cold. The nice thing about this turtleneck in particular is that it is sleeveless so it can easily carry over into spring. The pastel mint color is also a perfect transition color for winter to spring. I rarely buy things now with actual color but I’ll always make an exception for pastels - especially mint and pink. I got it in a petites XS, which makes the high-low tail work for my short frame. Not pictured are its super big arm holes, which would look cute with a lacy bralette.
My newfound love for turtlenecks continues with this sweater in pink blush, which I found for less than $10 in store. I got it in a regular XS, so it’s long enough to wear with my thinnest of leggings or just tights. The turtleneck collar is super thick and cozy and the slits at the sleeves are a unique detail. I also found a semi-cropped t-shirt for $5 which is just a soft gray t-shirt but with a twist at the bottom front. I can’t find it online anymore but hopefully I’ll have it in one of my next outfit posts to show you guys (it could be a potential easy DIY to elevate the look of any of your old tees). It is a petites XXS so it fits really well.
I love my new platform ankle boots from H&M. Mine are a little bit different from what’s online because the stretchy Chelsea boot-esque detail goes all the way down to the sole instead of rounding out like the picture, but it’s the same price with the same 1.25 inch platform and 4.5 inch heel. I’ve been looking for simple but edgy boots like this for ages and everything I’ve found has always had a detail that turned me off until I found these pretties. I’ve only had tan ankle booties for quite some time so having these new black ones has broadened my outfit horizon so much. The faux leather looks great and they haven’t been unbearably painful to walk in despite their height. Gerome also picked up three blazers for $20 each the same day so it was definitely a fortuitous trip to H&M.
