Best Boston Bites
I’m not going to pretend to be a legitimate food blogger because I’m really nothing more than a #foodie who can’t say much more about food than “holy *insert expletive here* this looks good” right after snapping a pic for Snapchat. But I do happen to eat out a lot because of an unfortunate combination of not knowing how to cook and not knowing what to cook. I’ve amassed quite a few favorites in my time trying out different restaurants in Boston so keep reading if you need help planning where you’re gonna be eating this Halloween weekend!
Brunch is the perfect time to consume all the carbs your heart desires while you think about all the poor decisions you made the past weekend. It’s probably my favorite meal and it’s also pretty clear what my favorite dish is. These aren’t all my favorites but just a few of the places where I remembered to take food pics.
Sonsie • 327 Newbury St • Back Bay • $$
What to order: Poached Eggs Benedict
What to do: Get a reservation so you can sit by the front and people watch
Back Bay Social Club • 867 Boylston St • Back Bay • $$
What to order: Eggs Benedict, Chicken and Waffles (a Gerome fave)
What to do: Split the chicken and waffles with a bae because it’s massive
North Street Grille • 229 North St • North End • $$
What to order: Benedict In Bed
What to do: Come early for brunch then go to Mike’s Pastry for dessert
On the rare occasion that I leave work during a break or if I try to go do brunch at a time that is really not acceptable for brunch anymore, I go out to lunch. I usually make food for myself for lunch but food just tastes so much better when someone else exerts that effort. Here are some of my new favorite lunch spots.
Roxy’s Gourmet Grilled Cheese • 485 Cambridge St • Allston • $
What to order: Green Muenster Melt, Mushroom Burger, Truffle Fries
What to do: Don’t forget to check out their ever-changing beer selection
Paul One Boston Place • 201 Washington St • Downtown • $$
What to order: Croque monsieur poireaux et saumon rôti
What to do: Ask to be seated in their full service restaurant if you have time
Asian food gets its own category because I’m Asian and Asian food is amazing. Sadly there aren’t any notable Filipino food places that I know of in Boston. These are just a few of the Asian food places I have indulged in recently (and if you’re looking for Thai food pretty much all Boston Thai places are awesome).
Gourmet Dumpling House • 52 Beach St • Chinatown • $$
What to order: Soup dumplings (any kind)
What to do: Perfect the art of not dribbling dumpling soup all over yourself
Kaju Tofu House • 58 Harvard Ave • Allston • $$
What to order: Tofu soup (any kind)
What to do: Don’t go during peak meal times because you’ll have to wait
Totto Ramen • 168 Brighton Ave • Allston • $$
What to order: Spicy Ramen, Pork Buns
What to do: Bring cash, come hungry - ramen is more filling that you think
If you’re about to get your fancy dinner date on, these are two places I highly recommend. Boston does not have a shortage of nice places to go to dinner and I would have more recommendations to list if I didn’t feel so awkward trying to take pictures of pricey but gorgeous and yummy food in dimly lit restaurants.
Liquid Art House • 100 Arlington St • Downtown • $$$
What to order: Dutch Hollander Maine Mussels, Rotisserie Pork Loin
What to do: Check out the art around the restaurant (even the bathrooms)
La Voile • 261 Newbury St • Back Bay • $$$
What to order: Le magret, le deux (classic and pan-seared foie gras)
What to do: Look out for its new location coming soon to Brookline!
Next on my to-try list is a Japanese restaurant called Hojoko at the Verb Hotel in Fenway, which is O Ya’s hip younger sibling. I’m going there this weekend for my friend’s birthday (happy birthday Patricia!) and I’m super excited. What are your favorite restaurants in Boston or your hometown? Comment down below! I’ll hopefully be doing more of these restaurant roundups in the future! Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @thisisyna - might be doing a giveaway soon if I hit a certain number of followers ;) Thanks for reading - come back soon ♥
