Hey ladies (and gents)! Finally moved back to Boston for my summer job and after 5 days here I’m pretty much all unpacked. Packing and unpacking always makes me realize how much stuff I have - way too much. A great (and terrible) example is my makeup bag. I had to leave behind so many products at home because I just had too many random things that would just not fit in the little Prada pouch I try to keep everything in. I really don’t need to have as much makeup as I do since my usual routine is just focused on trying to make my eyes look a little less tired and little bit prettier. I’m far too lazy to apply makeup all over my face (but I tell myself that I’m just trying to keep my skin healthy). Here are the products that I consider my makeup essentials and use on an almost-daily basis (click the arrows to see all of the product links and images!):
I really don’t ever really use foundation, except for the occasional usage of BB cream when my skin is at its worst. But I love this primer by Smashbox and use it for my eye makeup too. Maybe one day I’ll splurge on eye makeup-specific primer but this one has already proven its worth.
I used to do my brows with the Dolly Wink Eyebrow Pencil which I reviewed in my Japanese makeup haul but I’ve since used that pencil up. I’m now using this twist-up pencil and comb to continuously improve my eyebrow game.
I’m all about highlighting the brow bone and my newest product for doing so is this Clinique crayon. I don’t really use the shaping end but I love the highlighting end since it smoothly applies a subtle but lasting pretty shimmer.
Being a college student has gifted me with the puffiest and purplest eye bags ever plus the occasional acne breakout from all the stress and sleep deprivation. This concealer is great at negating all the marks on my poor skin.
This palette was the best Christmas gift ever from one of my best friends. For workday looks I use subdued shades like Strange, Limit, and Nooner. For going out looks I love sparklier shades like Dust, Trick, Factory, and Blackheart.
If you’re only ever going to buy one eyeliner this should be it. This eyeliner has the best staying power and deepest color of all of the eyeliners I’ve ever tried. The jet black shade and precise felt tip is perfect for every cat eye.
My eyelashes are woefully sparse, short, and straight. After a few crimps with an eyelash curler and a few coats of this mascara, they become amazingly longer, thicker, and prettier. Perfect for batting my eyelashes at boys (jk).
On my laziest days this is the only product I wear. I can’t go an hour without wearing lip balm (I hate dry lips with a passion and compulsively apply and reapply lip balm) and the fun shape of eos lip balms make them my favorite.
One of my newest faves is Clinique’s chubby stick intense. I usually don’t wear lip color since I’m too lazy to maintain it and have always thought my lips looked weird when tinted, but this product applies beautifully and lasts beautifully.
