the river café

Hey guys! Gerome and I started off the month with a short trip to New York for his 25th birthday because we got tickets to the August 6th show of Dave Chappelle's Radio City Music Hall residency. I thought about making one big post about the trip, but there are a couple different things I want to highlight from the trip so this will probably be a series of New York posts I scatter around other pieces of content on my blog instead of an extra long post. This post is about our experience at The River Cafe, which is a beautiful Michelin-starred restaurant in Brooklyn. We started off our trip in New York with lunch at the restaurant, and I honestly think I’ll remember the meal for life. I hope you enjoy my little attempt at being a food blogger!

birthday in portland

Hi guys! It's taken me a while to get this post together, but I was a little too busy just basking in the memories of the trip and holding onto the feeling of it all to actually get off my butt and write a blog post. Basically, Gerome semi-surprised me with a trip to Portland for my 23rd birthday! I say semi-surprised because I'm a little shit who kind of spoiled the surprise by calling him to say good night two nights before my birthday and then asking him why he sounded so shady. He confessed that he was mildly freaking out trying to get a birthday trip together for me, which I thought was adorable. I was glad I called because he almost booked a hotel in Portland, Oregon instead of Portland, Maine, which was the Portland he intended on taking me to. It was really sweet of him and an honest and well-meaning mistake because Portland, OR has one of the boutique hotels from a hotel chain I really like. We ended up picking a hotel in Maine together and wrapped up planning the logistics of the trip at 4am the day we left for it. This post has just a few of our photos from the trip and my thoughts about the experience. I hope you enjoy reading this post!

world's end

On Marathon Monday, Gerome and I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Boston Marathon since it was such a beautiful spring day. We ended up driving to World's End, which is a gorgeous park and shoreline in Hingham, Massachusetts owned and maintained by The Trustees. Keep reading to see photos of our fun little day trip (my outfit details are also listed somewhere in the middle of this post if you're curious)!

spring break?

Hi y'all! It's been a month since I posted on here but I'm back again! Snowed in today because of winter storm Stella, so I finally got some time to finish up this long catch-up post. Nothing too crazy has happened in my life since I posted and much of the past month has been spent sick in bed (the weather has been all over the place and really messing with my fragile immune system), but I did want to show you guys what happened around the time of my trip to Philadelphia with Gerome. I hope you all stay safe and warm today and also enjoy this post!

crane estate & summer scallops

Last month, Gerome and I visited Ipswich, MA to see The Crane Estate. It was the 125th Anniversary of The Trustees (they preserve historical sites and cultural landmarks in Massachusetts) so there was a ‘Home Sweet Home’ Open House at a number of beautiful Trustees properties during which admission was free. We chose to go to The Crane Estate because it was the most eye-catching of all the mansions that were holding open houses. Once we got to the property, we were not disappointed by what we saw. Keep reading to see photos from our visit to the Crane Estate (including what I wore and what we ate in Ipswich)!

weekend adventures & mini haul

Hi guys! Gerome and I didn’t leave the house at all yesterday (and probably still won’t today) because he’s been sick and now I’m feeling sick. It’s probably because we spent too much time out in the cold this past weekend. Feeling bored by the places we normally frequent in Boston, we explored everywhere from Charlestown to Newport, Rhode Island. Worth getting sick with the weather now getting better? Probably not, but we still had a lot of fun and did some shopping along the way. Keep reading to see where we went and what we got!
