nordstrom anniversary sale 2018 picks

Hey guys! It's that time of the year again — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! It's my third year shopping and writing about the sale so you probably know what it's all about — every summer, Nordstrom releases their fall/winter items (and some new summer items) on a major discount for a few weeks, and then the prices go up again in early August. Public access to the sale opens up on Friday, July 20, so you know I'm ready to shop. It can definitely be an overwhelming sale so I've categorized everything the way that I've been shopping the sale — things to wear to work, shoes, fall essentials, accessories, and trend pieces. Things definitely sell out quickly, but Nordstrom restocks when they can — keep checking the site if you really want something. As a reminder, don't buy anything you don't love just because it's on sale, but definitely stock up on any items you were already planning on getting since many things are at least 40% off right now. I hope you enjoy this post and I hope it helps you shop this enormous and exciting sale!

recent favorites + memorial day weekend sales

So... I haven't blogged in a while, but that's because I was doing a lot of soul searching, figuring out life's messes, leaving my company of three years, and then finding a new and fulfilling job (oh, and turning 24 and having an early quarter-life crisis). Now that I'm finally in the settling into a new job phase, I think I can slowly ease back into things on thisisyna.com. I've certainly been easing my wardrobe away from 'can you tell I work at a startup' and more toward 'I have a job that challenges me but doesn't overwork me.' In this post you'll find some of my favorite new additions to my workwear and weekend attire as well as other things I've come to love in the past few months since I've last posted. As a bonus, I've also listed all the amazing sales you should definitely shop this Memorial Day weekend! 🛍️🇺🇸

valentine's day gift guide 2018

Excuse this super late 'first post of 2018,' but I've had a pretty lackluster start to 2018. While I had a lovely holiday season with my family, 2018 has been pretty meh so far. I think the high point so far this year was my 4th anniversary with Gerome (love you babe) but other than that, work has been super stressful, my sister currently has the flu, and adulting has just been feeling overwhelming all around. Of course, one thing that always cheers me up is online shopping (or just browsing lol)! Gerome and I aren't doing gifts for this Valentine's Day but through all my online browsing, I've come up with a couple of ideas for gifts you can give your special someone this Valentine's Day - whether they're your significant other or just someone you want to make feel loved. As with all my gift guides, you can also use this as a way to #treatyoself - you deserve it girl, especially if you've had a blah start to the year like I have. Happy Valentine's shopping! 💘

wooden watches by jord

There’s nothing more timeless than a watch. These days, we’re always grasping for our phones to check the time, when it could be as simple as checking a beautiful and practical accessory on your wrist. Personally, I’m a watch person and don’t really switch watches ever - I find comfort in wearing the same pieces of jewelry every day. However, I did add a new watch to my collection recently - and it's a wooden watch - from the brand Jord. Keep reading to find out more about Jord and what I think about their wooden watches.

purpose jewelry

If you know me, you know I’m very into social justice - especially organizations and movements that empower women all over the world. When the brand PURPOSE Jewelry reached out to me to partner on some posts featuring their pieces, I knew I had to share their brand with you. PURPOSE Jewelry is a brand that works with victims of human trafficking to empower them and give them employable skills to help improve their quality of life after being rescued. When you make a purchase from PURPOSE Jewelry, proceeds go to International Sanctuary, a charity that works for the empowerment of human trafficking victims. Keep reading to see what I think about their jewelry and to learn more about their mission (there's also a discount code at the end if you're interested in the collection)!
